jill’s list: share the health

Jill’s List, a directory of complementary healers and services, debuted in Boston at Boston Medical Center last week. According to an article in the Boston Herald on September 16, 2011, CEO and founder Jill Shah recovered from a devastating loss of blood in childbirth six years ago. She used acupuncture to aid her recovery and became aware of the healing power of alternative therapies.

Quoting the Cameron Sperance article: “After the whole experience, I realized information on alternative medicine was spread from word of mouth instead of an on-line rate-and-review databse,” said Shah, a mother of two.

For the Jill’s List website, staff check credentials including state licenses and training of alternative practitioners. Patients can book appointments, as the article notes, from aromatherapy to “zero-balancing.” Acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, reflexology and Reiki are there, too.

The article quotes Dr. Robert Saper of Boston Medical Center, “For several chronic conditions like back pain and fibromyalgia, conventional therapies don’t necessarily leave the patient fully satisfied. What Jill’s List provides isn’t alternative care, it is complementary.”

Jill’s List will be available at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston in October.
