happy father’s day!

Father’s are universal; we all have one. Mine died at 70 after coming down with an auto-immune disease at age 51, so I was relatively young to be dealing with a parent who needed care and at the last years of his life, a nursing home.

Many of my peers today are assisting elderly mothers (and a few dads), often in their 80s and 90s, and I marvel at what that would be like — to have the wisdom that comes with decades of life and yet to be the daughter of a living mom. (My mom died when I was a teen.)

They say our health as a nation is declining, but these dads, moms, aunts, uncles, grandmothersand grandfathers who live well into their 90s are a new generation and suggest what might be ahead for us. Many of us may see 100. Let’s do all we can to stay in good health, mentally and physically.

Today we celebrate the dads that gave us life, gave us children, and populate the world with caring, hard-working, and sweet souls.

Happy Father’s Day to us all!
