food rules

You may be cooking something special today for the father/s in your life. I am about to return Michael Pollan’s book, Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual to the library.

Here are some gems from his pocket-size volume:

What should I eat? (Eat food.)

Don’t eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food.

Avoid food products that contain high-fructose corn syrup.

Avoid food products with the wordoid “lite” or the terms “low-fat” or “nonfat” in their names.

Shop the peripheries of the supermarket and stay out of the middle.

Eat only foods that will eventually rot.

That’s only the beginning of the wisdom he shares. Have a great day!
